Best gyros ever!!! Large and yummy Anytime I'm in the area it's my go to spot I usually share the sandwich
Been coming here for years. It is my "go to" Greek spot. Everything is tasty, charcoal calamari is terrific, green salad is great, lemon potatoes are great, and the Gyro's are terrific friendly environment.
I wish we had got the name of our server. She was polite and on point even with my choosey grandson in 3/8/24@12:00 The food was plentiful, reasonable price and delicious. We already establish before dessert that we are definitely returning.
This place is very old school family style which we don't have many of left! I order take out at least 1-2 times a week because the food is always fresh and fast. All the meats are delicious - my family likes the chicken donor the best! There's an indoor area if you want to dine in and an outdoor seating when the weather gets warmer. The boss is always on top of everything, welcoming and you'll see him sometimes hop in to help when it gets busy! You can't go wrong if you're looking for a good large lunch / dinner! Also always get extra pita and tzatziki!!
I love this place. I moved around the corner from them after coming here years ago thanks to a good friend. The pork is amazing, the salads are fresh and crisp. I'm never waiting there for more than a few minutes before I'm presented with the juiciest and most savory dishes. When I'm there, it feels like home. My favorite seat is by the grill near the windows and entrance as it's warm, cozy and has the best views of Francis Lewis Blvd.
Way better than the other gyro spots in Bayside for sure. The food is delicious and made to order. This place adds more meat than the others! Their baklava was perfection, so fresh! Service is good. You can tell a family runs this as they were playing their roles. Not sure if it's a sister or wife but the lady behind the counter was very sweet. The man was very short with the Uber eats drivers because his attention was split between addressing us, his staff, putting orders together himself etc. There isn't much ambiance inside. The kitchen is small and right by a tight seated area. There is an external seating area. Only one couple ate in. We watched so many pick up orders. I think sit down doesn't do well because parking around here is tough. There are a few metered spots right outside, and if you go further down you might get lucky on a residential street.
I don't understand all the negative reviews. They've been open a long time for a reason! These guys work HARD, still maintain reasonable pricing despite other gyro spots in the area increasing every menu item by $3-$4 over the last few years, and are reliably open on late nights and holidays. It's a no-frills establishment that offers everyone's Greek favorites. From salads, pita sandwiches, platters, and burgers - everything they put out is solid. Their pork souvlaki is tender AF, they don't charge me for minor add-ons like extra anchovies, portions are large, and they're very fast! I've never dined in, but have picked up for takeout dozens of times. The owner can be a bit brusque, but he operates a well-oiled machine.
Arguably the most flavorful, Gyro and Souvlaki and Bayside area. No disrespect to Gyro Corner's competitors, but the char on the meats were on point as well as the tasty, sizzling halloumi, and the well-dressed Horiatiki salad. It's not a fancy place by any measure, but tavernas in Greece are notorious for their simplicity and judged by the flavor they put on the plate. Gyro Corner definitely emulates the classic Souvlaki Taverna of any town in Greece large or small. The service is snappy and attentive, primarily because there aren't a lot of tables inside. This is definitely more of a delivery takeout joint. Nice and small, some would even say intimate. The constant entertainment of watching the staff fly around to fulfill what seems to be a million orders a night makes for great background harmonious to whatever discussion you're having with your company. Congratulations to the people that have this place going, I can recall approximately 15 years of them being around but that's only because I was unfamiliar with the area. I wonder how long they've been open, either way they're killing it.
I love coming here, whether it's to dine or take out. I usually get the Greek salad with chicken or a combo platter (chicken doner & gyro are always my fav) The meat is always fresh and they give you a nice amount! Combo comes with a small salad & a side. As per sides, you can't go wrong with the lemon potatoes or rice. FYI - The tzatziki is one of the best in the neighborhood .. I could eat pita & tzatziki everyday.. honestly ... heehee The service is always quick, treat you great & they have outdoors now so if you have a pup, you're more than welcome to bring them along! The ambiance feels old school which is my favorite! Can't go wrong!
I have been here a couple of times and have enjoyed every time I go. I have tried their chicken souvlaki, lamb gyro, greek salad and lemon potatoes. I recently had their lamb gyro which was delicious. The lamb is cooked perfectly, the tzatziki sauce is creamy and goes well with sandwich. The only thing I didn't love was that the tomatoes were cut way too thick for a sandwich and would be better chopped in small chunks. Also thing I didn't love was that the AC wasn't working in such a hot day and we had to sit outside which was not too comfortable since it was hot. Not sure if the AC is permanently not working or if it was just that day that I went.
